What is Brain Training?
Brain Training: What it is, how it works, and how to get started.
Whether you're researching brain training vs. tutoring for your child, considering an adult brain training program for yourself, or simply want to learn more about how training the brain works, you'll find answers on this page.
In this guide to brain training, we'll cover:

How Cognitive Skills Help Us Think and Learn
Maybe you're studying for a test or chatting with a friend. Maybe you're reading a book. Maybe you're driving a car. No matter the task, your brain is being bombarded with massive amounts of information in real time. It's a lot to take in, process, and decide what to do with that information! All of this information is processed by a set of core cognitive skills. Acting like cogs in a machine, these skills must all work together. Even one skill lagging is enough to keep your brain from efficiently grasping and processing the incoming information. It's pretty common for even very intelligent people to have weaknesses in one or more of these skills. When one of those cogwheels moves just a little slower than the rest, it creates frustration and learning and processing challenges. Whether it's in school, work, or another area of your life, brain training is aimed at targeting these issues with a method that can untangle the difficulty, and leaving you with a better working machine -- we mean BRAIN!
What is BrainRx and...
Does It Improve My Brain?
BrainRx is a research-backed, evidence-based brain training program that is unique, trusted, and effective at helping to maximize your cognitive abilities.
Unlike private tuition, the process of brain training essentially changes the way the brain takes in and utilizes information. This difference is key to helping improve your brain's ability to reason, pay attention, learn, play, and grasp concepts. Our trainers work intensively with every student to ensure the outcomes that you desire and help you achieve your goals.

History Behind Brain Training
Advances in research methods and modern technologies such as functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) now allow us to directly observe and interpret brain activity. We can actually watch how the brain responds as skills are being used in real time.

As our understanding of how the brain functions (and how it can adapt) has grown, it has become clear that targeted training can lead to significant gains in cognitive abilities. These improvements are also closely linked to better learning outcomes and stronger reading skills.
Since the 1980s, major breakthroughs in neuroscience have deepened our knowledge of both brain function and its capacity for change. The brain's structure is not fixed from birth. Current research shows that cognitive abilities are continually evolving. The brain works through a complex network of nerve cells, or neurons, which form groups to carry out specific tasks. Studies indicate that nearby neurons are recruited when learning something new. Once the skill is mastered, those neurons return to their original roles.
Neuroplasticity is a relatively recent term used to describe the brain's ability to adapt by reorganizing neural activity in response to experience. Repeated practice strengthens these neural pathways, improving the accuracy and reliability of recalling learned tasks.
So what does all of this mean? Scientific progress has created new opportunities for enhancing learning. Perhaps most importantly, it shows that we are not limited by perceived constraints or lifelong challenges. The brain has a remarkable capacity to change and grow. By identifying strengths and weaknesses in cognitive skills, individuals can expand their mental abilities. With proper training, the brain can become faster and more efficient, leading to meaningful improvements in learning success.

What is Thinkable Learning Centre and...
Can You Help Me?
Thinkable Learning Centre provides a number of extremely effective, research-backed and evidence-based interventions for learning difficulties - but we are the only learning centre in Dublin who are licensed and expertly trained to provide BrainRx cognitive skills training programs. And we're the only place in Ireland you can access ReadRx programs! Read more about us HERE. We also provide educational consultations. We've seen first-hand that this combination helps you strengthen critical skills used to absorb, process, and retain information - and this is how we transform your weaknesses into strengths. That's our entire mission, actually.

Our Vision
Help you succeed in learning
Achieve your fullest potential
Boost your self confidence while doing it
Core Values
Thinkable Learning Centre is solely interested in helping students of all ages with their learning problems. We will do our best to identify and help solve those problems. We can help. We haven't ever failed doing so.

It is vital to our success (and yours!) that our enthusiasm about brain training is infectious. We strive to create meaningful connections with our customers in order to achieve these loftly goals.

Our Mission
Our mission is to permanently improve your ability to think faster, learn easier, and perform better. We work to make learners defined by their efforts and outcomes, not labels and difficulties.
Our work aims to help identify the causes of learning and processing difficulties, as well as helping learners to strengthen any weak underlying cognitive skills that might be causing those difficulties.
We singularly strive to empower people to reach their goals with this unique approach to cognitive assessments and brain training, helping them to unleash the potential they have within.
